During the opening sequences of American Psycho, the titles we see displayed include the movie title, the main actors, and other contributors to the film such as the director and production company. The titles are displayed over a white background, followed by a steak ring cut up, which transitions into this elegant restaurant, ending with us seeing a night club. The title sequence introduces the main character while displaying creditors to the film.

  

    •     What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  

During the opening title sequence of "American Psycho." the images prioritized introduces a conflict in the film. The film starts with a. blank white background to then steak being cut up in an elegant restaurant. Wine is poured on this steak and served, it seems we're seeing the food going from the kitchen to the customer. Later on, we get transported to a nightclub where a character gets into an argument with someone in the nightclub, introducing a conflict. 

  

    •    How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?  

Common elements of a thriller that are established within the title sequence of "American Psycho" are a conflict that creates tension with the audience. In this title sequence, we see a classy businessman during the day, turn into someone of conflict at night. The conflict observed is seen at the ending of the title sequence, we see a fancy businessman getting into an argument with someone at the night club. This feud creates tension with the audience as they are anticipating what will come next and if the situation with later escalate.
