Movie Research: Subservience

What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? 

  • The science fiction thriller subservience follows many conventions of the thriller genre. For example, this film includes the typical sounds used in thrillers. For example, there is much suspenseful music to create tension. In addition, there was much ambient sound for the quieter scenes. 

 

What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?  

  • Some conventions that we will not be using include the slow tracking shots used in this film. We found these shots would slow down our film and not match the atmosphere we were going for. Secondly, we do not plan to follow the use the handheld shots as they create a shaky nature. We believe these shots will make our product look messy. 

 

What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are thinking of not filming for your final task? 

  • Some conventions that we will use include the static or locked-off shots. These shots convey a sense of entrapment, which we believe will be very effective in conveying our message of fear. Secondly, we plan to use similar costumes as they are mostly overall everyday clothes.

 Its official, pre-production has officially begun! To recap the project being dealt with, Valentina, my friend and classmate, and I are making an opening sequence to a thriller. The name we chose is "What Happened Last Night" and it unravels cryptic messages linking a friend group to their secret, regretful decisions. A huge part of this opening sequence is our choice is displaying all the title's. These titles include "Produced by," "Directed by," and such. In order to display these titles in a way that establishing the movie's thriller genre, I contributed in designing items to display the titles on. Title Research: American Psycho        The Title Research was conducted on: Art of the Titles Website             •     What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?    During the opening sequences of American Psycho, the titles we see displayed include the movie title, the main actors, and other contributors to the film such as the director and production company. Fun Filming! - Finalizing filming in production

 Hey readers! I'm Jack, your editor, writing to you on expansions in production. As some of you may be aware, I am currently in the middle of production for a music video. The music video is for the song "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears for Fears. It is in collaboration with my best friends Valentina, Salome, and Francesco. Or honestly after the chaos day 1 of filming was, I'm better off saying they USED to be my best friends. All jokes of course! But going back to production, to summarize, my last update referred to my first day of filming. It wasn't the best experience and was definitely not the most productive. On the bright side, filming day 2 was a HUGE success! I invited everyone back to my house and it seems like everyone learned their lesson because to my surprise, everyone was on time!
